Teams let you share skills, agents, plugins, and artifacts with the people who need them. New members get access to assets already shared with the team. Open a team under Teams in the sidebar, then browse its asset tabs. The workspace-wide entry is named All followed by your workspace name. It shows assets shared with everyone in the workspace.

Create a team

You need the Manage teams capability to create a team. Check your capabilities in Settings → Roles.
  1. Open Teams and click Create team, or click + beside Teams in the sidebar.
  2. Enter a name and choose an icon.
  3. Set Default access to assets to Can use or Can edit. Choose a Device sync setting for shared skills.
  4. Click Create. You become the team’s first Team owner.
  5. In the members dialog, search for people, select them under People, choose Member or Team owner, and click Add. You can also add groups.
Team owners manage membership in Members and change the team’s name, icon, access, and device sync defaults in Settings.

Team roles and asset access

Can use and Can edit control access to shared assets. Members with Can edit can edit those assets. Adding assets to the team requires the Team owner role. To change access to one asset, open its Share settings. Changing the team’s default also updates assets shared directly with the team when their permission matches the previous default.

Share and use assets

As a team owner, click Add on the team page, choose an asset type, then select assets you can edit. The same asset can be shared with several teams. Open shared assets from the team’s tabs. Connector access policies and authentication still apply when using agents or plugins. To sync shared skills to members’ managed devices, choose Settings → Device sync → Sync to devices. Individual skill settings also apply; see Sync to devices for setup and which settings take priority. Removing an asset from a team removes that team’s share. The asset stays in Runlayer, and people keep any access granted through other teams, direct shares, or workspace-wide sharing.

Manage membership with groups

You must be a Team owner. For identity provider (IdP) groups, first configure directory sync and check that the group appears in Settings → Groups.

Add a group to a team

  1. Open the team and click its Members button.
  2. Under Add members, search for the group by name.
  3. Select it from Groups and click Add. You can select more than one group.
The group’s active Runlayer users join immediately with the Member role. A badge such as via Engineering shows which group added them. The group appears under Groups in the members dialog.

How membership stays in sync

When directory sync processes a membership change, Runlayer adds or removes the person from each team linked to that group. It checks for changes every 10 minutes by default. Timing also depends on your IdP and sync settings. If several groups are linked to a team, a person stays a member while they belong to at least one of them.
Group sync leaves manually added members unchanged. Adding a group does not convert existing members to group-managed membership. If you promote someone added through a group to Team owner, their membership becomes manual and they stay on the team after leaving the group.

Remove a group or member

In the members dialog, click Remove beside a group. People who belonged to the team only through that group are removed immediately. Manually added members and people included through another linked group stay. The IdP group is unchanged. To remove someone added through a group, update their membership in the IdP. They cannot be removed individually from the team or leave it while a linked group still grants membership.
